Shawsheen Aquaduct, Middlesex Canal

Since we moved to our current residence at the end of August we drive by this old bridge several times a week. I have wanted to take a picture of it, but never stopped to do it. Today there were no cars behind us when we approached it so my husband pulled over so I could get a couple of pictures. I think I is really neat. Of course I needed to know what it was before I showed it to you, so I looked it up.

This canal was created in the early 1800's. It ran about 27 miles from Boston to Lowell Massachusetts. It was operational for 50 years. It was considered a "superhighway" in its day.

There is a museum near here that is open April - September, I think we will visit this spring. For more information on the canal try the following links.

Beautiful picture. It looks like something from Narnia. You have a lot of snow! We have none here in the midwest.

I think it would be really neat to get a picture of that same scene each season.
